Web development and software for American businesses
Most American businesses that reach me have already been quoted by a domestic agency and found the number hard to justify — not because the work was not worth it, but because a five-page marketing site should not cost what a used car costs. The other half tried a marketplace freelancer, got something that technically launched, and now want someone who will own the outcome.
I sit between those two. I am a full-stack developer in Udaipur, India, with over a decade of work and 750+ projects behind me, and I work directly with US clients — no account manager, no offshore bench you never meet, no ticket queue. You talk to the person writing the code. That is the whole model, and it is why the same project costs a fraction of a US agency rate without the quality falling off a cliff.
The practical questions Americans ask first are always the same three: what hours do you work, who owns the code, and what happens if you disappear. The answers are that I keep evening IST hours to overlap with your morning, you own every line and every credential from day one, and everything lives in your repository and your hosting account rather than mine.
What the USA market actually rewards
The United States is the most design-literate market I work in. Buyers here have seen good websites, they can tell a template from a considered build within about four seconds, and they are unusually intolerant of slow pages — which is fair, because Core Web Vitals and mobile performance genuinely move both rankings and conversion in a market this crowded.
It is also the market where accessibility is a legal exposure rather than a nice-to-have. ADA-related web accessibility claims run into the thousands every year and land disproportionately on ecommerce, hospitality and healthcare sites. That is not a scare tactic, it is a line in your risk register — and it is inexpensive to design for at the start and genuinely expensive to retrofit after a demand letter arrives.
The upside of working with me is arithmetic. Your budget goes three to five times further, which is usually the difference between a brochure site and the site you actually described in the first meeting — with the booking flow, the integrations and the CMS included. The trade-off is that part of the day runs asynchronously, which most clients find they prefer once they watch work land overnight.
What American clients get from working with me directly
Not a generic pitch — these are the six things that decide whether an offshore arrangement works for a business in the USA.
Real overlap, not a next-day reply
I work evenings IST specifically so there are five or more live hours with Eastern time. A 9 am call your time is routine, and work you approve at 5 pm Pacific is generally done before you open your laptop.
ADA and WCAG 2.1 AA built in
Semantic markup, keyboard operability, visible focus, colour contrast and labelled forms are part of the build rather than a plugin bolted on later. Accessibility overlay widgets do not protect you and I will not sell you one.
You own the code, the repo and the accounts
Everything is committed to your GitHub organisation and deployed to your AWS, Vercel or hosting account. No proprietary builder holds your site hostage and there is no licence to keep paying.
Fixed written scope in dollars, before work starts
You get a scope document with a fixed price and milestone dates. It does not move mid-project, and there is no discovery invoice before you know what you are buying.
One developer, not a rotating bench
The person on the kickoff call writes the code and answers your message eighteen months later. Nothing is lost in a handover because there is no handover.
A stack your next hire already knows
Laravel, React, Next.js, Node, WordPress and Shopify on AWS, Vercel or Cloudflare. A future in-house developer will recognise everything and be productive on day one.

The rules a US site has to live inside
Built in from the start, because every one of these is far cheaper to design for than to retrofit after someone asks.
- ADA and WCAG 2.1 AA
- Web accessibility is enforced through the ADA in practice, and demand letters are common in retail, hospitality and healthcare. Builds target WCAG 2.1 AA: semantic structure, keyboard navigation, visible focus, AA contrast, alt text and properly labelled forms.
- CCPA and CPRA
- If you handle California residents' data at any scale you need a working privacy notice, a genuine opt-out path for sale or sharing of data, and a request mechanism that reaches a human. I build the plumbing; your counsel writes the policy.
- HIPAA-adjacent work
- For medical practices I keep protected health information out of the marketing stack entirely — intake forms route to a compliant system rather than an email inbox, and analytics never sees patient data.
- SOC 2 and enterprise review
- For SaaS clients selling upmarket I build with the controls their auditors ask about: least-privilege access, audit logging, encrypted secrets and a documented deploy process.
I build the technical side to these standards. Legal wording — your privacy notice, terms and any regulated disclosures — should still be reviewed by someone qualified in the USA.

The question every US client asks
Is a twelve-hour time difference a problem?
It is the objection I hear most and the one that survives contact with reality worst. Evening IST hours give a genuine five-hour live window with the East Coast and a workable one with Central and Mountain. Beyond that the gap works for you: brief at the end of your day, review finished work at the start of the next. Pacific coast clients usually take a standing 9 am call and find that is all they need.
Working hours in USA time
6:30 pm to 11:30 pm IST covers 8:00 am to 1:00 pm Eastern, so your morning is my evening and nothing waits a full day.
