A website is not a purchase, it is a possession — closer to a vehicle than a piece of furniture. Left alone for a year, plugins fall out of date, an SSL certificate lapses, the contact form silently stops delivering, a payment gateway changes its API, and the backup nobody ever tested turns out to be empty. Every one of those is cheap to prevent and expensive to fix once a customer has noticed.

Maintenance plans cover exactly that: updates applied on a staging copy before they touch production, verified backups, uptime and SSL monitoring, security scanning, and a set number of content or development hours each month so small changes do not need a quote and a purchase order. You get a monthly report showing what was updated, what was fixed and what needs a decision.

Plans are monthly with no lock-in. If the site is quiet and you stop needing the hours, say so and we will scale the plan down.

What is included

01

Core, plugin and dependency updates

Applied on staging first, tested, then deployed — never straight onto the live site and hoped for.

02

Verified backups

Daily offsite backups with periodic test restores, because an unverified backup is only a rumour.

03

Security monitoring

Malware scanning, firewall rules, login protection, file integrity checks and rapid response if something gets through.

04

Uptime and performance checks

Round-the-clock uptime monitoring, SSL expiry alerts and monthly speed reports with fixes applied.

05

Content and small changes

An included block of hours each month for text edits, new pages, image swaps, banners and price updates.

06

Priority support

A direct line on WhatsApp for anything urgent, with defined response times rather than a ticket queue.

Why it is worth doing properly

  • Updates tested on staging, so a plugin release never takes your site down
  • Backups that have been restored at least once and are known to work
  • Included hours mean routine changes happen the same week you ask
  • One person who already knows your site rather than a new agency every time

How it works

From first call to launch

The same seven steps on every project, so you always know what happens next.

01

Discovery call

A straight conversation about what the business does, what is not working and what success looks like. No slide deck. If I am not the right fit for the project, I will say so here rather than three weeks in.

45-60 minutes
02

Written scope and fixed quote

You get a document listing exactly what will be built, what is excluded, the timeline in milestones and a fixed price. Nothing starts until you have read it and agreed. The scope is yours to keep either way.

2-4 days
03

Design you can click

Wireframes first for structure, then visual design. For websites you approve a working page in the browser rather than a flat image, so what you sign off is genuinely what gets built.

1-2 weeks
04

Build in visible milestones

Development runs in two-week milestones on a staging URL you can open any time. You see progress as it happens instead of receiving a status report about work you cannot verify.

2-16 weeks
05

Testing and your review

Cross-browser and mobile testing, speed and security checks, and a review round where your team uses the system properly and lists what needs changing before launch.

3-7 days
06

Launch and handover

Deployment, analytics and Search Console setup, a walkthrough recording for your team, documentation, and full credentials handed over. You own everything, including the source code.

1-2 days
07

Support after launch

A warranty period covering any bugs at no charge, then an optional maintenance plan for updates, backups, monitoring and new features. No lock-in either way.

FAQ

Maintenance — common questions

The questions that come up on almost every enquiry, answered honestly.

What does a website AMC actually include?
Updates to core software, plugins and dependencies applied via staging, daily verified backups, security scanning and hardening, uptime and SSL monitoring, monthly performance checks, a block of included content or development hours, and priority support. Each plan states the included hours and response time in writing.
Do you maintain sites you did not build?
Yes, after an initial audit. That establishes what is running, what is out of date, what is insecure and whether anything needs fixing before a maintenance plan makes sense. The audit findings are yours regardless of whether you continue.
What if I need more work than the plan covers?
Extra hours are billed at an agreed rate, and I will always tell you before crossing the line rather than presenting a surprise invoice. If you consistently need more, we move you to a larger plan, which works out cheaper.
Is maintenance necessary for a simple static website?
Less critical, but not zero. SSL certificates still expire, hosting still needs renewal, contact forms still break silently, and content still goes stale. A light plan covering backups, monitoring and occasional edits is usually enough.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Plans are month to month with no lock-in contract. If you leave, you take your backups, credentials and code with you — nothing is held back.

Ready to start your maintenance project?

Tell me what you are trying to build or fix. You will get an honest opinion, a written scope and a fixed price — with no obligation to go ahead.
