Working with Singapore clients from India

Web Development Company for Singapore Businesses

A shared working day, PDPA done properly, no agency mark-up. I am a full-stack developer in Udaipur, India, working directly with Singaporean businesses — 10+ years, 750+ projects, and no account manager between you and the person writing the code.

Web development and software for Singaporean businesses

Singapore is the most demanding market I work in relative to its size, and the reason is that expectations were set by companies with real budgets. Buyers here have used well-built products, they expect a site to load instantly on a phone, and they notice when something has been assembled rather than designed. They are also, in my experience, the most decisive clients anywhere — a scope agreed on Tuesday is signed on Wednesday, and they expect the same pace back.

The time difference is negligible. Singapore runs two and a half hours ahead of India, so we share essentially the whole working day. That removes the single largest friction in offshore development: there is never a point where a question has to wait until tomorrow.

What brings Singaporean businesses to an India-based developer is usually cost structure rather than availability. Local development rates reflect Singapore's cost base, and for an SME or an early-stage company the gap between a local agency quote and what the same build costs delivered from India frequently decides whether the project happens at all. The Productivity Solutions Grant covers some pre-approved digital solutions, but custom work generally sits outside it, and that is exactly where the difference matters.

What the Singapore market actually rewards

Singapore's digital economy is unusually concentrated. A small number of sectors — financial services, logistics and shipping, professional services, F&B chains, education and a substantial startup ecosystem — account for most commercial web work, and each has particular expectations. Fintech clients arrive with security questions before design questions. Logistics clients want integrations with carrier and customs systems. F&B groups want ordering and reservations that work at lunch rush on a crowded network.

Mobile is not a consideration here, it is the default. Smartphone penetration is among the highest in the world and a large proportion of commercial browsing happens on a phone during a commute. A site that is merely responsive rather than genuinely fast on mobile will underperform, and I build accordingly.

The PDPA is the compliance backdrop. It is less onerous than GDPR but it has teeth, particularly around consent, purpose limitation and the requirement to appoint a Data Protection Officer. The Do Not Call provisions catch out businesses that assume a web form gives them permission to phone or message someone, and that assumption is expensive. I build consent capture that records what was actually agreed to.

Why this works

What Singaporean clients get from working with me directly

Not a generic pitch — these are the six things that decide whether an offshore arrangement works for a business in Singapore.

Two and a half hours, not twelve

We share the working day. Calls happen when it suits you, messages get answered within the hour, and there is no overnight gap where a blocked question stalls the project until tomorrow.

PDPA-aware by default

Consent recorded with purpose and timestamp, Do Not Call implications handled where forms feed a calling or messaging list, data minimisation on every form, and a clear map of which processors touch personal data.

Built for the commute, not the desk

Performance budgets are set against a mid-range Android on mobile data, not a MacBook on office fibre. That is where your customers actually are, and it is where most Singapore sites quietly lose them.

Quoted in SGD, fixed before work starts

A written scope with a fixed Singapore-dollar price and milestone dates. No hourly drift, no change-order surprises for work that was always implied in the brief.

Your code, your accounts, no lock-in

Committed to your GitHub, deployed to your AWS Singapore or Vercel account. If you later hire in-house or move to a local agency, they inherit a documented codebase rather than a negotiation.

Regional expansion built in from the start

Most Singapore businesses eventually sell into Malaysia, Indonesia or the wider region. Multi-currency, multi-language and regional payment methods are far cheaper to design for at the beginning than to retrofit.

Compliance

The rules a Singapore site has to live inside

Built in from the start, because every one of these is far cheaper to design for than to retrofit after someone asks.

PDPA consent and purpose
Consent captured with a recorded purpose and timestamp rather than assumed from a form submission, and used only for what it was given for. Withdrawal has to be as easy as giving it, which means an actual working mechanism rather than an email address nobody monitors.
Do Not Call provisions
A web form does not by itself authorise a phone call or SMS to a Singapore number. Where a form feeds a calling or messaging workflow I build the consent capture that keeps that lawful and evidenced.
Data Protection Officer support
Every organisation must appoint a DPO. I supply the technical documentation a DPO needs to do the job — what is collected, where it is stored, who processes it and how long it is kept.
Data residency and MAS-adjacent work
For clients with financial sector customers or internal policy requirements, deployment sits in AWS Singapore with backups in region, and access, logging and secret handling are documented for review.

I build the technical side to these standards. Legal wording — your privacy notice, terms and any regulated disclosures — should still be reviewed by someone qualified in Singapore.

Sectors

Where the Singapore work comes from

Not an exhaustive list — these are simply the sectors that make up most of the enquiries from Singapore.

Fintech, payments and financial services
Logistics, freight forwarding and shipping
F&B groups and multi-outlet restaurants
Professional services and corporate secretarial
Education, enrichment centres and training
Property, real estate and co-working
Healthcare, clinics and aesthetics
B2B trading and regional distribution

Ready systems, customised rather than sold as-is

The honest bit

The question every Singapore client asks

Why not use a Singapore agency?

Sometimes you should — if you need people physically in the room every week, or the project is large enough that an account team genuinely earns its cost. For most SME and early-stage work, neither is true. What you are paying for locally is largely the cost base: office rent, account management and sales overhead priced into every quote. Working directly with me removes that layer while keeping the same standards, and with a two and a half hour difference you lose almost nothing in availability.

Working hours in Singapore time

Singapore is two and a half hours ahead of India, so the entire working day is shared. A message at 9 am your time reaches me at 6:30 am and is usually answered before your first meeting ends.

FAQ

Working with a Singapore client — common questions

The things businesses in Singapore ask before starting.

Do you work with Singapore companies from India?
Regularly, and the logistics are the easiest of any market I serve. Singapore is two and a half hours ahead, so we share the working day — live calls at any point, replies within the hour, and no overnight gap. Contracts, invoicing in SGD and payment by transfer or Wise are all routine.
Does the site comply with the PDPA?
It is built to. Consent is captured with a recorded purpose and timestamp rather than inferred from a form submission, withdrawal actually works, forms collect only what is needed, and I document which third parties process personal data so your DPO has an accurate picture. Where forms feed calling or messaging, the Do Not Call implications are handled at the point of consent.
Can data be hosted in Singapore?
Yes. Deployment to AWS Singapore or an equivalent in-region provider is standard for clients who need it, with backups kept in region. The hosting account is in your name, so residency remains under your control rather than mine.
How does the cost compare with a Singapore agency?
Substantially lower for equivalent scope, because the number is not carrying Singapore office rent, an account manager and a sales commission. That gap frequently decides whether an SME does the project properly or does a reduced version of it. I quote a fixed price in SGD so the comparison is direct.
Can you build for regional expansion into Malaysia and Indonesia?
Yes, and it is worth deciding early. Multi-currency pricing, multi-language content, regional payment methods such as FPX, GrabPay and local bank transfer, and a URL structure that will not need reworking are all inexpensive at build time and awkward to retrofit once a site is established and ranking.
Is the PSG grant applicable?
The Productivity Solutions Grant covers pre-approved packaged solutions from the approved vendor list, and custom development from an overseas supplier does not fall within it. That is worth knowing up front. In practice the price difference on custom work is usually larger than the grant would have been on a packaged one, but you should compare both rather than take my word for it.
